Op de herdenkingsdag genocide op Koerden in Halabja/Irak in 1988 wordt er h...
Op 16 maart 1988 werden er minstens 5000 burgers om het leven gebracht tijdens een aanval van Saddam Hussein op de Koerden in het Koerdische stad Halabja in Irak. Saddam Hussein gebruikte daarbij chemische wapens, gifgassen, waarbij velen, waaronder ouderen, vrouwen en kinderen op een brute, onmenselijke wijze het leven moesten laten.
Vandaag herdenken miljoenen Koerden in Zuid- Koerdistan, maar ook in Noord-Koerdistan en overal ter wereld deze genocide op de Koerden in Halabja. Er is momenteel veel onrust onder de Koerden, zo ook in Nederland; terwijl ze met de herdenking van Halabja bezig zijn, zijn ze tegelijkertijd met hun gedachten bij de Koerden in Syrië, waar nu onder leiding van Erdogan en zijn AKP regime een genocide op de burgerbevolking gaande is.
De Turkse regering heeft tot heden aan de NATO landen geen bewijzen geleverd voor de aanvallen op Afrin, waarbij ze het recht op zelfverdediging kunnen rechtvaardigen. Tijdens de aanvallen op de Koerden in 1988 in Halabja, keek de wereld stilzwijgend toe; nu, tijdens de aanvallen op de Koerden in Afrin/Syrië kijkt de wereld nog steeds stilzwijgend toe.
In de bijgevoegde documenten kunt u zelf oordelen of de aanvallen van de Turkse regering op ‘terroristen’ gericht zijn of op de burgerbevolking:
- bijlage 1 & 2: overzicht van de overleden kinderen en vrouwen, in de eerste maand van de aanvallen alleen al (20 jan tot 21 februari 2018); deze aantal zijn nu aan het stijgen
-Bijlage 3: Laatste update vanuit Afrin: hierin vindt u een overzicht van de slachtpartijen in Afrin tot heden door de Turkse aanvallen.
Wij roepen het parlement op om de genocide in Halabja/Irak op de Koerden te erkennen; de erkenning van deze genocide betekent niet alleen erkenning en rechtvaardigheid voor de slachtoffers en overlevenden van deze massamoord, maar het heeft ook tot doel om de volkerenmoord wat nu in Afrin gaande is tot halt te roepen en toekomstige daden van genocide te voorkomen. In 2009 spoorde de Verenigde Naties al aan op erkenning van de genocide op Halabja, om verdere gruweldaden af te schrikken. Stappen om de genocide politiek te erkennen zijn al gezet in Zweden, Noorwegen en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De Koerdische Nederlanders vragen de Nederlandse regering om de genocide in Halabja/Iraaks Koerdistan te erkennen.
Wij roepen daarnaast het parlement op om de aanvallen van de Turkse regering op Afrin te veroordelen en wapenleveranties aan Turkije stop te zetten.
De Koerdische Nederlanders zullen doorgaan met hun acties komende weken om deze onmenselijke, onwetmatige aanvallen op Afrin te veroordelen.
