Publisher: Rojava Information Center (RIC)
Release date: 2024
On the night of October 23rd, 2024, Turkey began a multi-day airstrike campaign in the region of North and East Syria (NES) that targeted essential civilian infrastructure, cutting electricity, fuel, and water supplies, for an estimated 1.05 million people. As per RIC records, Turkey carried out 68 airstrikes using drones and warplanes. Ankara’s targets included oil fields, electricity plants, medical facilities, food production factories, and industrial sites, as well as sites of NES’ Internal Security Forces (Asayish). Turkey hit infrastructure that had already been damaged by previous Turkish airstrike campaigns in January 2024, December 2023, October 2023 and November 2022. In conjunction with these airstrikes, Turkey intensified its usual heavy weapons strikes on villages near the Turkish-Syrian border and near the Turkish-occupied areas of NES.[1]
