He was a Peshmerga of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) for a long time and was wounded several times. He participated in the arrest of Mullah Bakhtiar.
In 1983, Shahab Karim was the commander of the detachment in the fifth sector of the 47th Brigade of Martyr Hawreh Jabar of Piramagrun.
In 1985, he was seriously wounded in an activity in Sulaymaniyah and lost one leg. His life was in grave danger.[1]
