Kosrat Rasoul Ali
He is the Deputy President of the Kurdistan Region and Deputy Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
Kosrat Rasul Ali was born in 1952 in Shiwashok village of Taqtaq district of Koya township.
He became involved in political work and the liberation struggle of the Kurdish people from the beginning of his youth and education. He joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and participated in the September 1974 revolution.
At the end of 1975, he joined the ranks of the Kurdistan Ranjdaran Association and became the supervisor of student organizations and activities.
In 1976, Kosrat Rasul was one of the founders of the Kurdistan Students Association in Kirkuk. His activities led to his imprisonment by the Ba'ath regime in 1977. After a long period of imprisonment and torture, he was one of the five brave resistance fighters who did not confess and proudly came out of prison.
In 1981, he became a member of the leadership of the internal organizations of the Kurdistan Ranjdaran Association and at the same time was in charge of the secret organizations in Erbil, which carried out a large and extensive political activity in the city.
In 1983, he was elected as a member of the leadership of the Kurdistan Ranjdaran Association. He later became a member of the leadership of the Kurdistan National Union. From 1988 to 1991 he was a member of the central committee of Kurdistan Ranjdaran Association and was in charge of the organizations of Kurdistan Ranjdaran Association.
In 1984, he became the head of the 4th headquarters of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). In 1985, he was seriously injured. In 1986, when the 3rd and 4th headquarters were merged, Kosrat became the head of the headquarters.
In 1991, when the map of the uprising was drawn up by the Kurdistan Front, which consisted of all political forces in Kurdistan at the time, Kosrat Rasul was appointed as a member of the Political Bureau to oversee the liberation of Erbil.
During the 1991 uprising, Kosrat was one of the most prominent leaders who played a significant role in the liberation of Kirkuk.
In 1991, he became the head of the Kurdistan Front in Erbil province. In 1992, he became a member of the Kurdistan Parliament. From 1993 to 1996, he became the prime minister of the second cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
In 2001, he became head of the executive committee of the Political Bureau of the PUK.
On #21-06-2006#, Kosrat was appointed Deputy President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
During his tenure as Deputy President of the Kurdistan Region and Deputy Secretary General of the PUK, he made several official visits to the United States and met with Bush.
Kosrat Rasul married in 1977 and had six sons and one daughter. Three of his sons were later martyred.
Kosrat Rasul is fluent in Kurdish, Arabic and Persian and has a command of English.
On #11-11-2017#, his health deteriorated and he underwent surgery in Sulaymaniyah.[1]
