He was born in 1987 in Sweden, but his parents are Kurdish from Halabja. They were forced to go to Europe for fear of the situation Saddam Hussein had created for the Kurds in the South. Darin has worn the Kurdistan flag on his chest in many different programs to show where he comes from. He considers himself a Kurdish-Swedish citizen.[1]
