Known as Baba Sheikh he is the descendant of (Sheikh Fakhr al-din son of Odai). Born in #1933# in the town of Shekhan Khurto Hajji Ismail was the religious leader of the Yazidi community of Iraq and the world until his death at 7:40 pm in the evening of #10-01-2020#. Because of the failure of both of his kidneys he passed away in a hospital in Erbil.
A few days before that he was receiving treatment in a hospital in Duhok later after the complication of his problem he was transferred to Erbil. [1]His funeral was attended by thousands of Yazidis, governmental and partisan officials, and Islamic as well as Christian religious figures and was buried in Bozan village of Shekhan district of Iraq's Nineveh Governorate.[2]
In 2011, after a six-day visit to Georgia during which he met the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, Baba Sheikh left Tbilisi to pay an official visit to the Vatican, where he met Pope Benedict XVI.[3] During this visit, Baba Sheikh attended a conference held in Assisi.[4] on 27–28 October, where the main theme was the peaceful coexistence of different religions.[3]
