Kakay Falah was a Kurdish revolutionary and nationalistic poet, as well as a talented jouranalist.
His full name is Hama Amin Qadir.
Kakay Falah was born in
1928 in Chwarta (Sharbazher) district of Sulaymaniyah province from a poor family.
He finished elementary school in Chwarta, and high school in the city of Sulaymaniyah.
He joined the Kurdistan Communists Party and was part of the revolution against class differences and the Kurdish struggle. He has written many revolutionary anthems and poems, and despite being imprisoned and tortured many times, he never gave up on is revolutionary beliefs.
He tried to give his anthems deep and meaningful sense using only easy and simple words that everyone could understand, reflecting on the Kurdish situation, struggles, and fight for freedom.
He was imprisoned in
1948 for one and half years, and served his sentence in Abu-Ghreb prison in South of Iraq.
After his release and return to Sulaymaniyah, he continued his revolutionary work until being imprisoned again for 5 years.
Aside from being a revolutionary and nationalistic poet, he was also a journalist who reprinted the (Zhin) newspaper starting fom
10-12-197010-12-1970.
Kakay Falah was a very gifted litterateur who, during his life, has published many books and translated many other works such as:
1. Two different poetry books for children in
1966 and 1968.
2. A poems collection in 1967.
3. Oedipus Rex translated from Arabic in 1978.
4. Kakay Falah essentials printed in
1980 in Baghdad.
5. Convey of Modern Kurdish Poetry volume one in
1979 and volume two in 1980.
He passed away on
09-10-199009-10-1990 in Sulaymaniyah at the age of 60.
