Qadir Zirak
Qadir Zirak
Qadir Ahmad Mustafa, also known more commonly as Qadir Zirak, was a Kurdish singer and songwriter.
He was born in 1954 in the village of Berkot, located in Erbil province.
Qadir Zirak was interested in music and singing from a very young age. His talents first appeared when he was in elementary school, and was particularly impressed by the works of the great Kurdish singer (Hassan Zirak) and repeated his works. Under his influence, he also took the nickname (Zirak) from him.
He finished elementary school in his home village, and then moves to Erbil to continue with his education. Due to his family’s financial situation, he is forced to quit school and only studies until 9th grade.
Qadir Zirak got married with Nasrin Ahmad in 1969, and they had two children together named Ayub and Zhyan. After 4 years of marriage, Nasrin and Zhyan lose their lives in a fire in 1973. Three years after their passing, hoping for a new life, he gets married with Awaz Abdulaziz in 1976 with whom he will have 3 children named Umed, Awat, and Ardalan.
Qadir Zirak recorded his first song in 1977 in the Kurdish Studio in Baghdad named (Doorm la Yaran), which eventually became one of his famous works that he would be remembered for. He went on to record many more works of art in 1980 such as (Dugmay Sina)(Aman Saqi)(Labnawar)(Bazy Kwestan).
On 18-07-1981, Qadir Zirak and a few of his friends went on a trip to Bekhal & Gali Ali Bag. On their way home, their car tipped over and Qadir Zirak and one of his friends lost their lives in the accident.[2]
