Marlene und Matej
„Der Irak will mit der Verhaftung von Journalisten verhindern, dass die ezidische Gesellschaft bekannt wird“, erklären Menschen aus #Şengal# nach der Festnahme von #Marlene Förster# und #Matej Kavčič# im Nordirak.
Marlene Förster wurde am 20. April zusammen mit ihrem slowenischen Kollegen Matej Kavčič im ezidischen Hauptsiedlungsgebiet Şengal von irakischen Sicherheitskräften festgenommen und nach Bagdad verschleppt. Beide recherchierten seit Monaten über die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung der ezidischen Gemeinschaft nach dem Genozid, den die Terrormiliz „Islamischer Staat“ (IS) 2014 an der ethno-religiösen Volksgruppe verübt hatte. Die irakischen Behörden werfen ihnen offenbar „Terrorunterstützung“ vor, von Marlene Förster wurde eine Woche nach ihrer Verschleppung bekannt, dass sie im Hauptquartier des irakischen Geheimdienstes festgehalten wird.
Menschen aus Şengal, die die beiden von ihrer Arbeit in der Region kennen, haben sich gegenüber der Nachrichtenagentur RojNews zu dem Fall geäußert. Sie gehen davon aus, dass die irakische Regierung mit der Festnahme von Journalist:innen verhindern will, dass das Schicksal der Ezid:innen öffentlich bekannt wird.
Şoreş Şengalî ist Musiker und arbeitet im selbstverwalteten Institut für Kunst und Kultur in Şengal. Er erzählt, dass er die beiden Journalist:innen kennengelernt hat, als diese das Institut besuchten: „Mit der Festnahme soll verhindert werden, dass die ezidischen Stimmen und Farben, die Kultur und die lange Geschichte von Genoziden am ezidischen Volk an die Öffentlichkeit gerät. Die beiden Journalist:innen haben zu unserer Kultur und Geschichte recherchiert und unter uns gelebt. Ihr Wunsch war es, die Kultur von Şengal bekannt zu machen. Marlene betonte, dass es ihr Ziel sei, unsere Kultur in Deutschland bekannt zu machen.“
Der Musiker verurteilt die Festnahme und sagt: „Die Regierung will nicht, dass sich unsere Kultur auf der Welt ausbreitet. Ich fordere die Regierungen Deutschlands und Sloweniens dazu auf, schnelle Schritte für die Freilassung ihrer Staatsangehörigen einzuleiten. Die Personen, die für die Festnahmen verantwortlich sind, beabsichtigen, die ezidische Kultur zu vernichten.“
Auch Tehsîn Şengalî hat Marlene Förster und Matej Kavčič kennengelernt. Er arbeitet im Institut für Gesundheit und sagt: „Beide Journalist:innen hielten sich in Şengal auf, sammelten Archivmaterial und interessierten sich dafür, wie die Menschen hier leben und ihr Land wiederaufbauen. Sie nahmen an den ezidischen Neujahrsfeiern teil. Es ist eigentlich nicht im irakischen Interesse, die beiden festzunehmen. Dadurch wird ein schlechtes Licht auf den Irak geworfen und verhindert, dass Menschen hier her kommen wollen. Die deutsche und die slowenische Regierung müssen jetzt eingreifen.
Wir wollen, dass Journalisten weiterhin hierher kommen, recherchieren und unsere Situation kennenlernen können. Wir wünschen uns, dass allgemein bekannt wird, was uns Eziden widerfahren ist, dass Bücher darüber geschrieben werden, die noch unsere Kinder in der Zukunft lesen können. Marlene Förster und Matej Kavčič wollten uns ein Sprachrohr sein und uns unterstützen. Es ist ungerecht, die beiden unter Vorspieglung falscher Tatsachen anzuklagen. Sie müssten schnellstens freigelassen werden.“[1]
