His name is Ahmad son of Fatah Beg Haji Ibrahim Beg son of Mahmoud Beg of Sahebqran. He started his education at an early age and studied in primary schools, military schools, and mosques. He was very bright in his studies. He was interested in poetry since childhood. He wrote his first poem in 1892 and continued to do so until 1915, the year of the occupation. The government of that time occupied his house, and his large library was burned down, thus wasting his twenty-four years of efforts. Ahmad Beg chose the title Hamdi in poetry. This poet was a man of faith, had his own ways and morals, and suffered greatly to preserve his principles and his values.
During the Turkish period, he was opposed to the Sheikh Mahmoud and fought against him and his ideas. Finally, when the British got into trouble with Sheikh Mahmoud, the Sheikh asked Hamdi Sahebqran for help. When he knew that the work was going well, he agreed with him and helped him in the interest of the Kurdish people.
When Sheikh Mahmoud was taken prisoner by the British and wounded and sent to Baghdad, and later sent to India, the poet Hamdi went to the mountains of Kurdistan and bravely rescued the family of the Sheikh.
Hamdi suffered a lot for the sake of his people and Kurdistan, and gave all his wealth and health for this purpose.
Hamdi Shebqran passed away due to a heart attack on the night of Thursday #12-11-1936#. [1]
