ERBIL — German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has called on Iran's leadership to pay attention to the women who have been taken to the streets over the death of Zhina Amini in the police custody.
Mahsa Amini, 22, from Iranian city of Saqiz, fell into a coma and died while being held by Iranian morality police. Her family and human rights groups said she had been tortured.
Her death has sparked protests across the Iranian Kurdistan, also known as Rojhelat, during which at least four people have so far been killed and dozens more wounded, according to Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
They must be listened to, as these women are demanding rights that all people should have, Baerbock said today on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, pointing out they were standing up for basic human rights.[1]
