Ciwan Hajo
Ciwan Hajo
Ciwan Hajo was born on #17-08-1957# in Trbaspe of the #Qamishlo# region. Ciwan belongs to the Hajo Agha family who left #Mardin# after the Sheikh Saeed Piran Revolution. he has been pursuing music since childhood At the beginning, he did not count on the support of his family due to the fact at that time only the lower classes played music. But at 14 he released his first album and at the age of 17 he sang in public for the first time. In the year 1979, he left Kurdistan and began studying music at the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany.
During this time, he was influenced by German musicians such as Udo Herbst. This will lead him to form his own innovative style with Kurdish folk music and the characteristics of European pop and rock music. Staying in Norway and working with musicians there enriched Ciwan Hajo's experience.
In the year 2004, he was allowed to give a concert in Turkey in the city of batman, which was well received and was attended by more than 200,000 people. After 1999, when he got married, the lyrics of Ciwan Hajo's songs changed from a revolutionary style to the beauty of life and love. The main song from his last album Off (2006), Li hêviya te (Waiting for you) features vocals in both Kurmanci and French language (the latter being sung by a female vocalist).
Ciwan Hajo also starred in Dol (2007) directed by Hunar Salim. And Wrote music for movies - Dol(2007), E: xile(2012), Chaplin of the Mountains(2013), and Sîrusta Gerîla(2017). His song was used in the soundtrack of the documentary 1001 Apples.[1]
