Secretary of the Iraqi Communist Party and recipient of the Lenin Prize.
He was born on 01-07-1924 in Berkot village near Erbil. His father was a poor Kurdish farmer. His mother was the daughter of a mullah and came to Erbil from Van and Bash Qala. His mother was from North Kurdistan. Aziz Muhammed came to Erbil with his mother at a very young age. He learned to read the Qur'an at the Abu Bakr Mosque and studied jurisprudence in Pirzin, Shaweis and Bahrka, but later dropped out of jurisprudence school.
His mother, who worked at home, sent him to school and because of his intelligence, he was placed in the third grade. After completing primary school, he thought about completing his studies at an industrial institute or teacher training institute. But his wish did not come true, because he had to reduce his age by two years.
After leaving school he remained unemployed for a while, then, with the help of several friends, was employed in the Food and Local Distribution Office, where he worked for three years.
In the spring of 1948, he joined the Communist Party and began his party work.
The years 1940-1941 were the beginning of his political activity, which at the same time encouraged a group of young people to enter political life, including the famous Kurdish teacher (Ezadin Faizi).
At the same time, he contacted the Hiwa Society and in May 1941 became a member of the Hiwa Society.
In 1942, he became a member of the People's League, which published a newspaper called Blesa and considered itself Marxist.
In the winter of 1945, after the first congress of the Iraqi Communist Party, he became a member of the party.
On 13-10-1948 he was imprisoned until August 1958 and remained in prison for 10 years.
During his years in prison, he learned Arabic through reading and read several literary books, stories, novels and political books. He also read many masterpieces of Russian, English and German literature. In addition to reading the works of Taha Hussein, Najib Mahfouz and other Arab writers.
From 1964 to 1993, Aziz Mohammed was the Secretary General of the Iraqi Communist Party.
Aziz Muhammed was awarded the Lenin Medal by the Soviet Communist Party in 1986 and the Asian and African Growth Star Medal in 2007 by Russia, becoming the second person after Nelson Mandela to receive the medal.
On 10-06-2015, Massoud Barzani awarded the Immortal Barzani Medal to Aziz Muhammed in Pirmam.[1]
