Hama Karim Arif was born in the year 1951 in the city of Kirkuk, South Kurdistan.
• In 1975, he graduated from Baghdad College of Literature.
• His first poem was published in issue number 170 of the Hawkari newspaper on 08-06-1973.
• Since 1975, he has been writing and publishing literary works.
• He was the editor or writing director or writing secretary or member of the editorial board of the following magazines and publications: Gizng magazine belonging to Kirkuk writers, writer of Kurdistan, culture, Kurdish writer, Gulan in Arabic, Alai Azadi (Flag of Freedom) up to issue 222, Nawshafaq magazine.
In addition to his own name, he has published works especially in the magazine Gizngi Nusranani Kirkuk, Nusri Kurdistan, Kaltur, Alai Azadi newspaper to No. 222 under the aliases Govand, Znar, Sipan, Pakzad, Mohammadi Haji, Sirwan Ali, Didar Hamwandi, Heja, H. A, Hamoon Zebari, Bazawan Abdulkarim, Arifzadeh, Hamoka.
He was a Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Revolution in 1974-1975. In the 1980s, he was independent of the Peshmerga Party for nine years. He is proud of his conscientious participation in the legitimate struggle of the Kurdish nation by being a Peshmerga.
• From the 80s of the previous century up until 20/8/2010, he directly supervised and presided over the Kirkuk branch of the Kurdish Writers Union.
• He has published many works and books, but most of them, especially those published in the mountains in such small copies, are as if they don't exist, because so few copies have survived today.
He has been actively involved in the Kurdish literary and cultural movement since the uprising.[1]
