Nouri Ahmad Taha
Nouri Ahmad Taha
Name: Nouri
Nickname: Sherdil, given by Mullah Mustafa
Father's name: Ahmad Taha

$Biography$

He has participated in many groups, organizations and parties. He sought the deprived rights of his people. He put his whole family's life on it. Every day he went on a road and every day he settled in a village or a city to pursue his purpose and serve his cause. Arrests, beatings, displacement, expulsion, deportation and dismissal from government jobs did not stop him from continuing forward. He was working towards a great goal, and sacrificing his life for it.
This man was Nouri Ahmad Taha. He was born in 1921 in Shiwi Qazi. Their house was next to the house of Mr. Mustafa Amin, the father of Gorran Movement leader Newshirwan Mustafa. Mr. Nuri was the elder brother of Hama Ahmad Taha, also known as Kamran Mukri. He was a Kurdish patriotic and revolutionary poet, who has inspired the Kurdish struggle with his fiery poems and has done a great service to the literary and cultural career of Kurdistan. His mother was the brother of the poet Akhol. He participated in the Hiwa and Rzgari Party as a member and participated in all political activities of his time. He was a brave, intellectual, active, loyal and patriotic person. He is also one of the founders of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). He graduated from the Baghdad Military College in 1941. His wife was from Sarshaqam neighbourhood named Najiba Khani Abda Sarshaqam. Their children were Aso, Shirin, Aras, Awaz, Ako, Zmnako, Zhalako and Ahmad. He was one of the Kurdish officers who was given the honor to participate in the Kurdistan Republic in Mahabad. After the collapse of the Mahabad Republic and the execution of Qazi Mohammad, he returned to Sulaymaniyah. However, he was arrested at the border and taken to court as a fugitive officer. Through the efforts of his relatives and friends, he was only sentenced to 10 years in prison instead of execution, but his fellow officers were executed and became symbols of the struggle of a nation. They were deported to southern Iraq in 1958 with their families. After the coup, they returned to Sulaymaniyah. He played an important role in the outbreak of the September Revolution. He was an intellectual and experienced commander. In his memoir, Newshirwan Mustafa says that when he was young, Nouri Ahmad Taha taught him a lot about politics. This struggling man devoted his entire life and suffering to the struggle of his people, which is the only legacy left for his family and they are proud of his name and life. This man was involved in daily activities and struggle and was an active participant in the struggle forum. He was given the title of Sherdil by Mullah Mustafa Barzani.
He died on 21-05-1991.[1]
