Khanim Muhammad Amin (Also known as Haji Khanim) was born in the year
1939 in the city of Sulaymaniyah, South Kurdistan. From an early age, she was passionate about painting, ceramics, carpet weaving and sewing. She has been living in the Netherlands since the year
1994 and taught herself to read and write Dutch there. She began painting at the age of 65.
She has participated in several joint exhibitions in the Netherlands and opened four solo exhibitions of her own works.
She opened her first solo exhibition in the year
2006 and held her second solo exhibition in Amsterdam in the year 2007.
In the year 2009, Kurdish artist Haji Khanim participated in a joint exhibition with more than 70 artists from Amsterdam as part of the annual project of the North Amsterdam Galleries in that city.
In the year 2009, the artist opened her third solo exhibition of her works in the Northern Museum of Amsterdam, which included her experiences in recent years and her works featured nature and memories. Since then, she has been active every week with many women's organizations and artists in the north of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
In recent years, despite the difficulties of her life in exile and illness, Haji Khanm has been able to present many beautiful works to lovers of painting who have a strong technique and therefore as a hardworking woman she has gained a great reputation in the Netherlands.
The fourth solo exhibition of Haji Khanim's works was held in August of
2010 in Amsterdam.
