Said Yaqub son of Said Waisi was born in 1802 in the Qamasha village of the Mahidasht region of #Kermanshah#. Their family line goes back to the Samrayi Saids and they live in Qamashah. They are Kurds of the region and the poet's family are Shiites of the Twelve Imams and belong to the Kalhor tribe. He studied the old religious script. At the beginning of his life, he tried to become a Mirza, that is, an educated man of that time. For this purpose, he traveled to Kermanshah, Kerand and Bestoon, Tehran, Qom, and Shiraz. Rumors of Said Yaqub's literacy and poetry reached the diwan of Imam Quli Mirza Emad al-Dawla, son of Davlat Shah, and he became acquainted with them. In 1831, through the help of that family, he reached Mama Mohammed Khan and he was appointed secretary of the house of Mama Mohammad Hassan Khan, the ruler of Kalhur. Said Yaqub was a good intellectual of his time. He was famous for his calligraphy. He had few equals in music and the use of the tambour. He was very knowledgeable in the music of maqams, especially the hora.
He liked tourism, walking, and hunting. He was famous for his horsemanship. He was known in Lorestan, Kalhor, and Bakhtiari areas.
It is said that he became acquainted with the Yarsan people, the Ahl al-Haq, during that time. Some believe that he converted to the Yarsan religion, There is no trace of this religion in his poetry, It is said that Saiid Yaqub sometimes whenever enlightened with Sufism and would sing hora and ride his horse. His poetic title is Said, and he sometimes used SayYaqo. Therefore, he was also known as Say Yaqo during his poetic life. He was known among the people of Said Yaqub Mahidashti.
The poet died in 1881 and his body was taken back to the Qamasha village and buried there.[1]
