Goran Sabah was born on 04-01-1982 in the city of Erbil in South Kurdistan. He completed all his education until his bachelors degree from university in Erbil. He received his master's and doctoral degrees in journalism from the University of Kansas in the United States, where he also taught for four years.
He is a 2010 Fulbright Scholar.
Two of his novels have been published in English and his research in the field of media in English has been published in international journals.
He was the founding member of the Kurdistan News Agency (Akanews).
He was the founding member of Ayinda for Youth Issues.
He was the editor of Admagazine.
He founded a book club, a reading club where you sit down with an author weekly to discuss his book.
He has worked as a journalist in a number of local and foreign media.
He has published multiple books, including novels, as well as many translations between English and Kurdish.
