He was born in 1966 in Erbil, Kurdistan. He completed his primary, secondary and vocational education in the same city. Ever since early childhood, his good singing voice was recognised by his friends. He began his artistic career in 1983. He released his first song called (I pray day and night) by Qaderi Siyahi and later recorded several other songs. Then he became more productive and became known among the youth of Erbil. His works are so influential then and now that he is known by everyone throughout Kurdistan.
Ziyad As'ad recorded and released his first cassette in 1988.
In 1989, he visited East Kurdistan and Iran, where he visited several artists, including Saeed Qandi and Gul Payagani. In 1990, he returned to Kurdistan and released an album. In 1993, he released another album, then left Kurdistan and went back to Iran, where he studied music and how to perform songs. He also learned Persian and then went to Russia for a long time to learn music, how to work on styles and types of songs.
He stayed in Russia for two years, learned Russian, then went to Canada, where he studied and learned English. He then went to Sweden for three years at the School of Arts and Culture of World Music. He learned several musical instruments including keyboard and clarinet. In 1998, he released an album called Namzani. In 2001, he released several songs on Med TV. In 2003, he released his last album, Skala.
In June 2010, in the presence of many artistic journalists, in a press conference it was announced that Ziyad As'ad new work will be released soon. At the conference, Ziyad As'ad announced his message over the phone and talked about his new album.
Since 1999, Ziad Asad has made his singing experience a pillar for Kurdish music and has brought many artists to the field.[1]
