Title:Statelessness in Iran Country Position Paper November 2019
Publisher:The European Network on Statelessness (ENS)
Release date: 2019
Iran has an estimated population of 82.1 million people and is home to an unknown number of stateless people. Comprehensive data about the problem of statelessness and the size of the stateless population residing in Iran is not available. Gender discrimination and other gaps in Iran’s Nationality Law, and a lack of access to vital civil status events, including marriage and birth registration, means that there is a significant risk of statelessness both within and outside Iran.[1]
