NÛJIYAN ADAR TISHRIN
#YPJ# fighters resisting at Tishrin Dam welcome 8 March, International Working Women's Day, with resistance. The fighters wish the resisting women a happy 8 March.
Fighters of the Women's Protection Units (Yekîneyên Parastina Jinê-YPJ) are welcoming another 8 March, International Working Women's Day, with resistance. YPJ fighters, who have been confronting the attacks by the occupying Turkish state and allied mercenaries seeking to occupy the Tishrin Dam since December 8, 2024, will celebrate 8 March on the fronts of resistance.

Speaking to ANF, YPJ fighters Avaşîn Basya and Sorxwîn Cûdî stated that they will strengthen their self-defense against the male-dominated mentality and raise their struggle on 8 March for women and the peoples.

Avaşîn Basya said that history is being made at the Tishrin Dam: “We have been resisting since 8 December. YPJ-YPG fighters have always lived their lives with resistance. Today, the resistance at Tishrin is going down in history. The fighters are confronting the high-level war technology of the Turkish state and its mercenaries with their unshakable will. On the contrary, the attacks strengthened our will and our resistance is growing day by day. Our struggle will continue stronger to avenge our martyred comrades. The Turkish state and its mercenaries should not even dream of occupying Tishrin.”

Drawing attention to the resistance of the people holding a vigil at Tishrin Dam, Avaşîn Basya continued: “In addition to the fighters, our peoples have also determined their stand in favor of resistance. While the fighters are fighting in the positions, the peoples are holding a vigil at the dam, saying 'We will not let the occupation pass'. I can say that a Revolutionary People's War is taking place at Tishrin Dam. Our mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters are resisting at the cost of their lives to protect their land and ensure the security of their water and energy. The resistance, excitement and morale of our people give us strength. In the people's resistance, which grows with the philosophy of Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan], the fighters and the people are interconnected. We cannot exist without the people and the people cannot exist without us. We will lead our resistance to victory together.”

Avaşîn Basya stated that on the occasion of March 8, they will carry the Tishrin Dam resistance to its peak and added: “Happy 8 March to Leader Apo and the resisting women. 8 March is not just a day for us, every day is an 8 March to us. Every day of the year is an 8 March to us. Each day is lived with the enthusiasm of 8 March and resistance is put up. Our hope is to celebrate this 8 March with Leader Apo. It is thanks to Leader Apo that women's resistance is growing and deepening. Without Leader Apo's paradigm based on women's liberation, we would not be where we are today; we would not even know ourselves. Finally, I congratulate all the women of the world on Women's Day. Greetings to the women who resist.”

Sorxwîn Cûdî, who has been taking part in the Tishrin Dam resistance for two months, said, “A superhuman resistance has been put up at Tishrin. Intense attacks have been confronted in line with the Revolutionary People's War. We continue to push back the mercenaries to ensure our self-defense. Tishrin Dam is ours, we will not give it up.”

Welcoming 8 March on the fronts of Tishrin and congratulating all women, Sorxwîn Cûdî said, “Women are leading the resistance here. They are reweaving their lives. We will celebrate another 8 March by resisting.”[1]
