They died on Taksim Square on 1 May 1977. The İstanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office submitted the indictment to the İstanbul 2nd Heavy Penal Court at the end of the month.
The defendants were the 98 people they collected from the square, among them were Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) executives. In other words, they were those who came for the festivities. They were acquitted.[1]
