NEWROZ AMED
#Newroz# wird von verschiedenen Völkern im Nahen und Mittleren Osten am 21. März als Frühlingsbeginn und Neujahrsfest gefeiert. In Kurdistan ist Newroz zugleich ein Symbol des Widerstands gegen Unterdrückung. In der Türkei finden bereits seit mehreren Tagen Newroz-Feiern statt. In Amed (tr. Diyarbakir) hat die DEM-Partei am Freitagabend eine beeindruckende Performance auf der historischen Stadtmauer organisiert. Eine große Menschenmenge zog mit 75 Fackeln und 75 Erbane-Trommeln auf die Mauer im Altstadtbezirk Sûr, dazu wurden kurdische Lieder gesungen. Der DEM-Provinzverband teilte dazu mit: „Vom Schmied Kawa bis zum zeitgenössischen Kawa – das Newroz-Feuer breitet sich in ganz Kurdistan aus.“
Der kurdischen Mythologie nach haben sich die Menschen in Kurdistan an Newroz aus der Tyrannei befreit. Erstmals 612 v.u.Z. in Medien, auch Mederreich genannt, gefeiert, erhob sich der Schmied Kawa an jenem Tag gegen den König Dehaq. Er stürzte den Tyrannen vom Thron und entfachte im Palast ein großes Feuer, um der Bevölkerung die Botschaft der Befreiung zu übermitteln. Der PKK-Begründer Abdullah Öcalan wird von vielen Menschen als Kawa der Moderne betrachtet, er wird am 4. April 75 Jahre alt.

In Deutschland sind ab diesem Wochenende viele Newroz-Veranstaltungen angekündigt, eine zentrale Feier findet am 23. März in Frankfurt am Main statt.[1]
