Haji Ali Bag

Haji Ali Bag
Haji Ali was the father of Qadir Haji Ali and the late artist Hama Jaza, this family originally come from the eastern part of Kurdistan and eventually resided in Sulaymaniyah, Haji Ali was born in 1906 and died in 1989. He married two wives, the first of whom was Fatima, and had a son and a daughter from. His second wife was Amina, the mother of Hama Jaza and Qadir Haji Ali. Due to the fact that his sons were peshmarga, in 1985, when he was lying on his bed due to illness, the Sulaymaniyah security forces put him in a blanket and took him to the security department carrying him by four of his limbs. He was imprisoned for four days. Haji Ali Bag, a patriotic and loyal Kurd, was one of the richest men in #Sulaymaniyah# . In the 1950s and 1960s, he built a new house behind the public garden in the Aqari neighborhood in the year 1952, and he built half of his house as a mosque under the name (Haji Ali Bag) mosque which is still present in the city.
He was one of the most famous men in the city. He was a man of faith and high morals. Wherever he appeared, men and women, young and old, respected him. He was also a philanthropic businessman for example: When he was released on June 9, 1963, and there was a quarantine, he felt that the people were hungry. Because the people went to the villages to collect flour prepared for animals, they turned it into bread and ate it. Haji Ali ordered that the door of his warehouse be opened and the flour distributed equally among the people of Sulaymaniyah, He encouraged the rich of Sulaymaniyah and was saying: “Today is the day of courage, the day of manhood, reach out to the poor and help them”. He also said: “Today is the day of helping and showing loyalty. Let our nation not die of hunger.” He shouted: “Honorable people, come and take what I have in my warehouse and shop.” He gave every household twenty kilograms of flour, without anyone being deprived or disappointed. Haji Ali recorded this sovereignty for himself and gave the blessing of his manhood to the people of Sulaymaniyah and Kurdistan.[1]
