Born in 1984 in the district of Lice in Diyarbakır province, Şanlı graduated from Anadolu University Department of Business in 2012. He worked for Zarema and Wêje û Rexne magazines as a copy editor of Zaza. In 2014, he started his master degree in Mardin Artuklu University’s Department of Kurdish Language and Culture. In 2015 he took part in a project called Parastina Zimanê Dayîkê (Protecting Mother Language), carried out by the Association of Middle East Cinema Academy with the support of an EU fund. As a part of this project he translated Nilgün Abisel’s book Sessiz Sinema (Silent Cinema) into Kurdish. The book was published in 2016.
