Sadiq Sharafkandi

Sadiq Sharafkandi
He was born on 21-02-1938 in Taragha village of Bokan. He lost his father at an early age and was taken care of by his elder brother, the late Kurdish poet and patriot Hazhar Mukriani.
Mohammad Sadeq's childhood coincided with the development of the liberation struggle of the Kurdish people of Iran and the establishment of the Kurdistan Republic. The guidance and advice of his scholarly and struggling brother and many scenes from the historical period of that time were impressed on his mind.
He completed his primary and secondary education in Bokan and then in Mahabad. He completed his final year of high school in Tehran and received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Tehran University in 1959.
It is worth noting that in all grades he was either first or one of the best students. In the same year, he became a chemistry teacher and worked as a teacher in Urmia and Mahabad until 1965.
During this period, he became known as an expert teacher and worked hard to educate Kurdish students so that the number of students who were accepted to universities increased year by year.
Finally, the SAWAK, the intelligence agency of Hama Reza Shah's regime, did not justify his service in Kurdistan and expelled him and a number of other teachers to the cities of Arak and Karju. In 1970, Mohammad Sadeq Sharafkandi was transferred to Tarbit Moallem University and appointed as an assistant in the chemistry department.
After demonstrating his skills in this field, he went to France in 1972 on a scholarship from the Ministry of Science and after four years there he received his PhD in analytical chemistry from the University No. 6 of Paris. Dr. Sadegh Sharfkandi returned to Tehran in 1976 and continued his teaching career as an associate professor of chemistry at Tarbit Moallem University.
Therefore, he became the love of the teachers and students of the university and became known as a loyal teacher and at the same time a struggler. In 1973, while studying for his doctorate in Paris, Dr. Mohammad Sadeq Sharafkandi became acquainted with the program and internal rules of the KDP through our great teacher Dr. Abdul Rahman Qasemloo and applied for membership in the KDP.
After his return to Iran, he became a friend of Dr. Qasemloo and former members of the party leadership. After the fall of the monarchy and the resumption of the open struggle of the Democratic Party, he became an advisor to the Central Committee in 1979. In February 1980, he was elected a member of the Central Committee.
In the early summer of 1980, he was called back to Kurdistan by the party leadership for full-time work and gave his best to the party. In the summer of 1980, he was elected a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee. He was re-elected as a member of the Central Committee at the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth congresses of the party and as a member of the Political Bureau at the Central Committee.
During his tenure in the leadership of the party, Dr. Sadeq Sharfkandi was mostly responsible for the propaganda department (radio and press) and from 1986 until the martyrdom of our great teacher Dr. Qasemloo, he was the deputy secretary general of the party.
Dr. Sadeq Sharfkandi was elected as the Secretary General of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) at the first plenary session after the martyrdom of Dr. Qasemloo.
The great struggler of our people, Dr. Sadeq Sharfkandi, played a fundamental role in the leadership of our people's party and movement during the last twelve years. He was one of the most talented and experienced leaders in the ranks of our people's national democratic movement. He was a loyal student and friend of the late Dr. Qasemloo. From the time he joined the party leadership, Dr. Sadeq was one of the most influential drafters of the party's policies and positions.
He loved the party cadres and Peshmergas, but this love never gave way to a realistic assessment of the cadres and Peshmergas and their affairs. Mr. Dr. Saeed's sincerity and unselfishness were fully evident to all his party comrades, so his advice was accepted.
He felt the important role of the organization in the party and movement very well, but he never put the organization in the place of the people and avoided nervousness and sectarianism, because he wanted the party organization and the party itself to lead the people's struggle. Dr. Sadeq was a brave, courageous, moral, honest, constructive and truly loyal man. He supported justice and used all these characteristics in politics and action. He was a hardworking man who devoted all his time to carrying out his party duties. He was a true revolutionary and democrat who showed these characteristics in every action and attitude. He had a deep belief in democracy and the rights of the Iranian peoples. Therefore, in his view, the criterion of any struggle movement in Iran and Kurdistan was the struggle for the establishment of freedom, democracy and the rights of the Kurdish people. Politics and tactics were not imaginary terms and phrases for Dr. Sadeq. In his view, politics was a struggle act, and therefore it was rightly a mirror of the great characteristics of the KDP. Dr. Sadeq Sharafkandi was a man of the land and people. He was as cheerful and passive towards his friends as he was tough and unforgiving towards the enemies and opponents of the party and the people. He loved the Kurdish people with all his skin and so he devoted his life to serving them. He was not one of those politicians who wanted the people as a means of advancing their goals. He was the vanguard of the Kurdistan people's struggle and he did not care about any private and personal interests except the interests of the people. He was not only the general secretary of the party cadres and Peshmergas. He was also a friend and companion of the comrades. Mr. Dr. Sadegh had a deep belief in the cooperation of the peoples and all freedom fighters of Iran. He believed that the overthrow of the akhundi regime would not be possible or at least easy without the cooperation of Iranian patriotic and struggling forces He sacrificed his life for the freedom of Iran and Kurdistan's autonomy. The memory and name of the great Sharafkandi will always remain immortal and his brilliant struggle for the sacred goals of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, the Kurdish people and the Iranian people and his revolutionary characteristics after his death will guide and inspire our country's strugglers.[1]
