Fatanah Walidi

Fatanah Walidi
She was born in 1953 in Sina, East Kurdistan, to an artistic family. Unfortunately, her career ended too soon due to poor living conditions and mental illness. However, she was able to play a historic role in Kurdish music. She was one of the first female singers in East Kurdistan and later inspired many other female and even male artists in Kurdistan.
...
Fatana Walidi
Full name: Fatana Mohammed Sharif Walidi.
- Born in 1953 in Sina, East Kurdistan.
- Her father was both a violinist and a singer of his time, and he was the first to encourage her to reach this level in Kurdish art and music.
- In 1960, at the age of seven, she was sent to Radio Sina by Hassan Kamkar, the father of the Kamkars musical group.
- She was the first female singer in East Kurdistan.
- Studied at the Higher School of Music in Tehran.
- In the 1970s, she became acquainted with the world of music through Hassan Kamkar, the father of the Kamkars, and her father, Mohammad Sharif Walidi.
- Recorded her first songs as a child at the encouragement of Hassan Kamkar on Radio Sina.
- She quickly attracted the attention of famous musicians such as Grisha Mikailzadeh and Mojtaba Mirzadeh.
- There are many stories about why Fatanah turned away from singing and music, but the most obvious is a love story that caused her a bad mental state.
- She has remained in solitude for more than half a century and only occasionally some people and parties have paid a visit.
- At that time, she worked with singers such as Saleh Pirzahery, Bahaaddin Nowrozi, Hooshang Shagerf and Behrooz Tavakoli on Radio Sina.
- She has recorded about 56 songs in Radio Sina and Kermanshah. Only one album is available and most of her other works have not been published.
- After the death of her father in 2017, she was transferred to a charity center for the mentally ill in Bahar neighborhood of Sina.
- She has three siblings, one of whom is in the same center where Fatanah is due to mental illness.
- Her sisters have limited interviews with her.[1]
