He was born in 1911 in the village of Presi in Halabja. He was the first child of his family.
He has two sons and three daughters, the eldest of whom is Mullah Mohammed Omar Abdulaziz. On July 1, 2008, he became the leader of the Islamic Movement, ending the leadership vacancy in the movement and becoming the third leader of the movement after his two uncles.
Mullah Omar was arrested by the Americans in March 2006 along with his brother Mullah Ali Abdulaziz, then the movement's leader, and later released.
He died on #08-08-2008# in Sulaymaniyah at the age of 97 His body was buried in Gulan cemetery next to the graves of Mullah Osman Abdul Aziz and other teachers of the Islamic revival.[1]
