He was born in the year 1937 in Rwanduz, in the province Erbil, South Kurdistan.
In the year 1956, he graduated from the Baghdad Institute of Fine Arts.
In 1967, he obtained a master's degree from the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts.
In 2004, he obtained his PhD in Philosophy of Art from Salahaddin University/Erbil.
He is the founder of the College of Fine Arts of Salahaddin University, and he has taught in many universities in Kurdistan and Iraq. He recently continued his work as a lecturer at the College of Fine Arts of Salahaddin University.
In 2001, he won the State Award for Artistic Innovation.
He was a member of several associations, including the Baghdad Association for New Art, the Iraqi Association of Artists, the Iraqi Artists Union, and the Paris and Moscow Artists Centers.
