Wojciech Kaczor
Article discusses the mechanisms of dehumanisation and objectification in genocide, on the example of the Yezidi religious minority persecuted by the so-called Islamic State. It uses the theoretical framework provided by such social psychologists as P. Zimbardo, N. Haslam, M. Billewicz, M. Nussbaum, Leyens et al. Sources include memoirs of the former Yezidi sex-slaves and the dehumanising narratives from previous centuries. Islamophobia is also mentioned as an example of dehumanisation of the people culturally related to the perpetrators. The analysis has proven an important role played by the both, above mentioned mechanisms in the perpetration of the crime of genocide.[1]
