Fathi is one of the poets who has served Kurdistan's literary and cultural career through his poetry and works. Although this poet has dozens of beautiful poems and his fingerprints are visible in the field of translation, he has not been properly looked at, written about, and many highlights about his life and works and remained unknown.
But this does not diminish the importance and greatness of this poet and his poems and works are like hidden gold and shine whenever they appear.
Sheikh Fatih son of Sheikh Fatah son of Sheikh Ismaili Dolan is the full name of this poet and is known in the world of literature as Fat’hi.
He was born in 1918 in the village of South Dolan in Qaradagh region and was brought up in an intellectual and religious family, and his grandfather was a prominent figure of his time and was a poet.
Fat’hi studied religious studies in Dolan village and Sulaymaniyah city and managed to complete his educatin in this field.
Fathi has been passionate about literature in general and poetry in particular since a very young ague. He has dozens of beautiful poems that have been presented in two volumes of his book. He wrote youthful poems for religious, national, and special occasions and for the deaths of his family members and personalities.
Besides poetry, Fathi also worked as a translator. He was fluent in Persian and Arabic. He translated several books from these two languages in general and many books from Persian in particular.
Interestingly, Fat’hi knew the Hawrami dialect well and translated some works from that dialect into Lower Kurdish (Sorani) or vice versa.
Unfortunately, this prominent Kurdish poet passed away on 06-09-1962 and was buried in Sheikh Fatah cemetery in Sulaymaniyah.[1]
