After the uprising, the history of political assassinations against the voices of freedom fighters began. In 1993, a series of political assassinations took place in Badinan region of South Kurdistan, one of which was the assassination of Rauf Akrayi.
Rauf worked for the PDK Students Union until 1974 and was a member of its board of directors. In 1973, he went to Germany with Martyr Aram as a delegation of Kurdistan youth. He then supervised the organizations of the PUK in general and Komala in particular in Badinan until 1984, but the prolongation and method of negotiations with the regime in the 1983 agreement between the PUK and the Iraqi regime led him to take a stand against the PUK.
In 1993, a wave of political terrorism swept the Duhok region of South Kurdistan. One of the assassinated figures was Rauf Akrayi, who was assassinated on May 26, 1993 in Duhok near his home.
Rauf Akrayi was one of the most talented intellectuals, politicians and journalists in Badinan. During the tragedy and crime of Anfal, especially Anfal 8, which covered Badinan, he published some of his information and memories in a book in Arabic in 1989-1990.[1]
