Hakim Abdullah Kakawais, also known as Hakim Kakawais, is a Kurdish writer and translator, the father of four sons and a daughter.
Hakim Kakaweis was born in 1949 in the village of Hasari Gowri near #Kirkuk#. In 1957, when the first school was opened in Daraman village, 6 km from Hasar, Hakim Kakawais attended primary and secondary school in Kirkuk. In 1973, he graduated from the mathematics department of the College of Science at Sulaymaniyah University.
After university, he served as a Peshmerga until the end of the September Revolution. In the summer of 1975, he was appointed as a programming officer in the Ministry of Planning in #Baghdad#, where he continued until 1980.
He was then appointed as a reserve soldier in #Zakho#. After the outbreak of the Iraq-Iran war, he was asked to become a Ba'athist. In 1984, he moved away to Sweden and settled there.
Hakim Kakawais retired in 2000 due to heart disease. He left Sweden due to illness and returned to his hometown in Kurdistan. He spent his life reading, writing, and translating in the village of Hasar in Kirkuk.
He has translated more works into Kurdish than Arabic and Swedish. He translated most of the works of Masoud Mohammed, son of the great mullah of Koya, into Kurdish.
He went to the hospital in Baghdad for medical treatment and died on Sunday #18-11-2018# in Baghdad.
