Hassan Kamkar was originally named Hassan Suri. He was passionate about music since childhood. As a child, he bought a three-stringed instrument from a blind musician and began to learn it himself. The blind musician's name was Ali Khan.
At the age of 12, he was enrolled in the Nizam School. At the age of 17, he became acquainted with classical instruments, especially the violin. He was taught solfege at the Nizam school and later learned the instrument without a teacher, using Abul Hassan Saba's notebook and rhyme. He learned all the Iranian and classical instruments, strings, three strings, violin, violin without a teacher, he could even tune them.
In 1961, with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture, he established the first Kurdish Music Institute in Sina. In a short time, he was able to establish four bands, including a women’s band and a children’s band. He wrote and trained pieces for each of these groups, and the fruits of their intensive work and progress were so great that they had three orchestras.
He also forced the authorities to establish a higher institute of music. These groups remained active until 1979.
Hassan Kamkar was collecting Kurdish songs and music, which he wrote down with notes. He was able to write down 400 pieces of Kurdish music. Hassan Kamkar was able to bring the Kurdish people closer to music in order to overcome the oppressive conditions of the time. Hassan Kamkar and his activities led to his children's passion for music becoming what they are today.
He has eight children: Hooshang, Bijan, Pishang, Arslan, Qshang, Arzhang, Ardshir and Ardavan. Hassan Kamkar is the founder of the Kamkars. Hassan Kamkar played the violin, Qashang sang, Pashang and Arzhang played the century and jazz, Hoshang and Bijan played the accordion, Arsalan and Ardeshir were still children and later joined the group.
In 1970 they were a semi-professional band.
After a few years, Kamkars, along with Mohammad Reza Lotfi, Parviz Moshkatian and Hossein Alizadeh, laid the foundations of Arif and Shidayan and gave their first concert together at the beginning of the 1979 revolution.
Mohammad Reza Lutfi was the husband of Qashang Kamkar.
Hassan Kamkar died in 1992.[1]
