He was born in 1973 in Kurka village of Zakho city. In 1975, he fled to Iran due to the invasion of the Ba'ath regime and remained there until 1999. He completed his education in Iran and participated in a course of the Iranian Youth Cinema Council in 1995. He has worked in theater, television and cinema in Iran and Kurdistan. His films have participated in many international festivals such as: Rio de Janeiro Film Festival in Brazil, Leipzig Film Festival in Germany and Kutah Tehran Film Festival in Iran, Rotterdam Film Festival in the Netherlands, Munich Film Festival in Belgium, Fajr Film Festival in Iran, the Titanic Festival in Hungary, the Delhi Festival in India, and several other film festivals.
He was the director of the first Kurdistan Short Film Festival in Erbil, organized by Kurdistan TV.

Darichk 1998 - Betacam 43 minutes produced by Mahabad TV, Iran which won the second prize at the Iranian Television Festival in 1999. Dama Baran Bet 2000 - DVD Cam 29 minutes Kurdistan TV Satellite Production. Bazge 2002 - DVD Cam 18 minutes Kurdistan TV, which won the Best Director Award at Baghdad Festival. Gaf 2003 - DVD Cam 23 minutes Produced by Kurdistan TV, Best Film Award at the Baghdad Film Festival in 2005 and Honorary Award at the Sulaymaniyah Film Festival in 2004. Parinawa la Ghubar 2006 - 35 mm - 75 minutes Produced by the Kurdistan Regional Government and Narin Film Company, this film won the following awards:
- Best Director Award at the Singapore Film Festival.
- Critics' Award at the Singapore Film Festival.
- Al Hamra Gold Award for Best Film at the Granada Film Festival.
- Bronze Award for his performance in Spain at the Granada Festival.
- Jury Prize at the 9th Delhi Film Festival, India.
- Gold Award for Best Film at the Indonesian Film Festival.[1]
