Mahmoud Haji Mohammed Ablakh, also known as Kholay Haji, was born in 1931 in Sulaymaniyah. He has played a significant role in the social and political fields of his country and Sulaymaniyah in particular. He was an active member of the Association of Kurdish Revival, Freedom, and Unity (Kazhik). In the 1960s and 1970s, he owned a public bath called Goyzha Public Bath in front of the Sulaymaniyah Palace, next to the Mawlawi Hotel, where the bookstores are now located.
He died in 2004 at the age of 73 and was buried in Ablakh cemetery.[1]
