He was born in 1321 of solar calendar which corresponds to 1942 ad of Julian calendar, in the city of #Sanandaj# eastern part of Kurdistan. He is a singer and musician of Kurdish and Persian music. He has been interested in music since his childhood because he grew up in a music loving family. Iraj Khalifa's grandfather, Haji Abdul Samad Andalibi, was a famous Daf player in Sanandaj and had a great voice, the song 'باز هوای وطنم آرزوست' is one of the songs that he had sang and it is one of his masterpieces. Iraj is the father of the famous artist Shaho Andalibi and cousin of Jamshid and Mohammed Jalil Andalibi.
Iraj started his singing and music career in 1965 and sang more than twenty songs in the orchestra of Radio Sanandaj under the supervision of Hassan Kamkar. Andalibi's popularity spread in Sanandaj then the whole Kurdistan in a short time through radio Sanandaj and #Kermanshah# radio, his fame came to southern Kurdistan, that’s when Kurdish Radio in #Baghdad# began broadcasting his songs.
His first song was Shuani Shuani, which he performed in the Radio Sanandaj Orchestra under the direction of Hassan Kamkar and Mohammad Reza Lutfi.
Some of his songs are: Shuani Shuani, Ronak, Shirin Gyani Shirinm, Demek Saqi, Nashmil Nashmil, Ashqan, Esterey Bayano Daya Daya Iraj has translated poems of Kurdish poets such as Hemn, Goran, Dildar, Wafaee and Qanei.
On Sunday, May 15, 2008 (#04-05-2008#) at 2 am, the singer passed away at the age of 66 in #Hamadan#.[1]
