His full name is Jawhar Ababakr. He was born in 1934 in Erbil. He came to Erbil when he was 8 to 9 years old and settled in Goma Pis neighborhood near Takya Sheikh Abdulkarim. At that time there were three primary schools in Erbil. He went to school in 1943 and for the second year his family moved to Tayrawa and moved to Ibn Mustafi School. He completed the fourth grade there, and completed the fifth and sixth grades at Ula School. He began writing in 1954, was employed in 1957, worked as a lawyer from 1982 to 1993, became director general of the Ministry of Agriculture's office in 1993 and was appointed advisor a year later until his retirement. His father was the main reason for him to become a writer and poet. Although his father was illiterate, he was very aware of the history of Kurdish families such as the Badrkhanis, Sheikh Obeidullah and Simko Shikak, and the late Sheikh Mahmoud and the Barzan family. In other words, those families who had a Kurdish path had tried but had not achieved anything. At the same time, his father was very fond of all the Kurdish songs and poems. His father did not have a good voice, but he told him stories on winter nights. Then Jawhar got up and started writing experiments. His writings until 1955 were confiscated . He had written many stories and poems.
Unfortunately, poet and writer Jawhar Ghamgin passed away on 24-02-2012 in a car accident.[1]
