Mohammed Aziz Qaftan was born in 1914 in Sulaymaniyah.
From the beginning of his youth, he was passionate about the world of printing and dreamed of owning a printing house. In 1957, his dream came true and he bought a printing house from Bahbahan Company in Baghdad and brought it back to Sulaymaniyah. This printing house first printed account books and other necessities for the shopkeepers of the city, then published newspapers, magazines, books, pamphlets and poets' books and served the Kurdistan cultural movement in these fields. He secretly published statements and publications of the Kurdistan Revolution, which led to the arrest of Muhammad Aziz Qaftan and his son Hoshyar. This printing house served until 1970 as Kamran Printing House. After 1970, at the request of poet Kamran Mukri, the name was changed to Kamarani Printing House and it worked until 2008. This printing house served the sacred Kurdish language for half a century. Many books, pamphlets, magazines and newspapers appeared from the heart of this printing house and enriched the Kurdish literary and intellectual heritage.
Mohammad Aziz Qaftan instilled the love of printing in the hearts and minds of his children. Therefore, his sons, even after his death, kept the sacred torch high and continued the work of printing and blessed the field.
Mohammed Aziz Qaftan passed away on 15-02-1993 after a long service to the printing industry in Kurdistan, but his printed works will remain immortal.[1]
