Because she was interested in Kurdish songs and music, she always listened to the Kurdish voices of Radio Yerevan and loved the voices of Maryam Khan, Aisha Shan, and Shakro and she sang their songs and till now she has released several CDs and cassettes. Cane is a dual German-Turkish citizen who sought asylum in Germany during the height of the Turkish-Kurdish conflict in the 1990s. On day #14-11-2018#, the Turkish court sentenced artist Cane to six years and three months in prison on the grounds of “propaganda for the organization” after she was arrested in the Edirne province. in February 2021, her daughter was also held in Turkey.
Hozan Cane was released from Bekirkoy prison in Istanbul on Wednesday evening #30-09-2020# after spending two years in prison on terrorism charges, her lawyer said to the German news agency that relayed the news on the artist's release.
Hozan Cane's lawyer Nevruz Akalan said that despite the fact that Cane is released from prison, Cane is not allowed to leave Turkey and is under a travel ban.
