Sarbast Mahmood his full name is ( Sarbast Mahmood Fatah) was born in 1974 in Morias village of #Sulaymaniyah# province. He was brought up in a revolutionary and patriotic family. He completed his primary education in Morias village and secondary education in Sulaymaniyah.
He began reading magazines, newspapers and books at the age of secondary school. In 1991, he became a student of the Kurdish Department of the College of Arts of Salahaddin University, and finishes University with very good grade. On #17-19-03-1995#, he participated as a founding member of the first congress of the Kurdistan Democratic National Union (YNDK) held in Ankawa town of #Erbil# province. After the congress, (YNDK) was announced on the day of Newroz of 1995. Martyr Sarbast Mahmood started his struggle with a national spirit from the first day of the establishment of YNDK and participated very actively in Shaqlawa township on #05-07-1996# politician, and At the second congress of the YNDK, he was elected as a member of the leadership committee and later became a member of the political bureau and head of the central organizing committee of the YNDK
After the congress, he was very active in organizing the YNDK in Sulaymaniyah, Sharazoor and Hawraman regions.
On 10, 11, and 12/1999, he was re-elected as a member of the Political Bureau of the YNDK in the third congress held in Erbil.
He was appointed editor-in-chief of the newspaper Media, as well as played a major role in publishing the magazine Sarxobun, which he owned.
Martyr Sarbast Mahmood was a talented national thinker, a patriot, a warm Kurdish lover, and a high moral, loyal, attractive, compassionate, courageous, and truthful person.
Unfortunately, the enemies and terrorists did not allow Sarbast Mahmood to work harder and serve his nation more. On the evening of #31-05-2000#, they brutally martyred him in Erbil. The body of martyr Sarbast was brought back to his beloved city from Erbil on #01-06-2000# and buried in a special ceremony in the cemetery of Saywan Hill in Sulaymaniyah. Unfortunately, the case of Sarbast Mahmood's martyrdom remains open and the relevant agencies have not yet found the killers of Sarbast Mahmood.[1]
