Ali Darwish Muhammad Ali (more commonly known as Alia Drezh = the tall Ali) was born in 1907 in Boskin. His parents died when he was a child. He worked as a shepherd. He came to Ranya through his uncle and started his family life. Although the difficulties of life did not allow him to go to school, but he was a wise and conscious man and one of the intellectuals of his time, a man of compassion for the poor and helped them with all his might. In difficult times, he has always tried to help those around him.
These factors have made him a well-known name among the people and they turn to him when social problems arise.
He was always looking for solutions to the problems of society and was willing to walk tens of kilometers for reconciliation between two people or two sides, he walked from Ranya to Sangasar, Zharawa, Qaladze and other areas outside Ranya several times.
He had a strong personality and no one denied his advice during peace and reconciliation. Although he earned his living only through a little agriculture, he was always seen as a rich man.
Whenever someone came to him to ask for money, even if he borrowed from others, he would not leave him in despair. Although he was healthy, all of his children (except one daughter) died in childhood.
For 60 years, the reputation of Alia Drezh's goodness and greatness had spread throughout Kurdistan and people from all over the country had flocked to him.
He was a pure and open-hearted man throughout his life. He gave all his wealth to the poor and even went into debt.
Unfortunately, after more than half a century of noble and humanitarian work, after a lot of service to human life, on (24-04-1982) at the age of (75) due to illness passed away in Ranya.[1]
