La première République kurde indépendante, fondée le 15 décembre 1945, à Mahabad, n'aura duré qu'un an ; dès le 15 décembre 1946, elle a dû s'effacer devant les troupes de Téhéran. Nous avons essayé ici même, à l'aide des premiers renseignements parvenus, de retracer la chronique de cette expérience, en la considérant dans le cadre du mouvement national kurde Des informations plus complètes, publiées en particulier par M. Archie Roosevelt Jr, dans le Middle East Journal, d'avril 1947, et par M. Philips Price dans le Manchester Guardian, des 18, 21 et 23 octobre 1947² permettent aujourd'hui d'analyser plus à fond cette importante manifestation du nationalisme kurde ; elles indiquent également les leçons que, pour sa part, le gouvernement iranien a cru devoir en tirer, et qui sont dignes d'être commentées.
