Im Vorfeld des Gipfeltreffens zwischen der Türkei, Iran und Russland in Teheran ist Erdogan mit dem iranischen Ajatollah Ali Chamenei zusammengetroffen.
In Teheran findet heute ein Gipfeltreffen der sogenannten Astana-Garantiemächte Türkei, Iran und Russland statt. Im Vorfeld trafen der iranische Präsident Ebrahim Raisi und sein türkischer Amtskollege Tayyip Erdogan im Beisein von zahlreichen Ministern beider Länder zu einer Sitzung über die weitere Zusammenarbeit zusammen. Erdogan wird von Verteidigungsminister Hulusi Akar, Innenminister Süleyman Soylu, Außenminister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Finanzminister Nureddin Nebati, Energieminister Fatih Dönmez, seinem Sprecher Ibrahim Kalin, und den Ministern für Jugend und Sport, Handel sowie Industrie und Technologie begleitet.
Ein weiteres Treffen fand zwischen Erdogan, Raisi und Ajatollah Ali Chamenei statt. Das Büro von Chamenei erklärte nach dem Gespräch, dass die wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen und die Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Türkei und Iran gestärkt werden sollen. In der Erklärung wird auf die Wichtigkeit der territorialen Gesamtheit Syriens hingewiesen, jeder mögliche Angriff auf den Norden des Landes sei zum Nachteil der Türkei, Syriens und der gesamten Region. Die Syrien-Frage müsse über einen Dialog zwischen Iran, Türkei, Syrien und Russland gelöst werden.
An dem Gipfeltreffen im Astana-Format wird auch der russische Präsident Wladimir Putin teilnehmen. Der „Astana-Prozess“ wurde 2017 in Kasachstan in Gang gesetzt und mit dem damaligen Namen der kasachischen Hauptstadt etikettiert, heute heißt sie Nur-Sultan. Einer der wesentlichen Gesprächsinhalte wird die von Erdogan angekündigte Invasion in Nordsyrien sein.[1]
