ERBIL — Turkey has resumed shelling of Parakh village in Kurdistan Region’s Zakho district two days after a deadly bombardment left nine Iraqi tourists killed in the area.
Kurdistan 24 reported on Friday that at least 21 artillery projectiles were fired at Parakh in the past 24 hours.
There have been no reports of casualties due to the new phase of bombardments yet.
Last Wednesday, a Turkish artillery shelling in a summer resort of Zakho district killed nine Iraqi tourists and injured 26, including women and children.
Turkey has rejected responsibility for the attack and blamed it on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
However, Iraq said an investigation indicates that Turkey carried out the attack, which Baghdad strongly condemned. [1]
