Abdulkarim Hisami, also known as Karim Hisami, from his own words in his memoire: my father wrote in the back of a Quran book my date of birth as #09-01-1926#. He was born in a village near the city of Mahabad in Eastern Kurdistan from a religious family of farmers. He was unable to continue with his education due to his family’s financial situantion and he was forced to quit studying and start working with his father to make end’s meat. In 1949 he joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Iran, which he remained associated with until 1984. In 1953 he was sent as a representative of the Kurdish youth in Eastern Kurdistan to fourth World Youth Festival in Bucharest, Romania. After his return from this trip, he was imprisoned for three years by the Pahlawi regime of Iran. His father, his wife, and child passed away while he was in prison. Afer his release in 1957, he was kept on house arrest in Mahabad for a while. In 1959 he moves to Southern Kurdistan, after which he resides in Baghdad. In 1960, and under unfavouring circumstances, he moves to Czechoslovakia, where he manages to obtain a lisance of social sciences in Prague. In 1964 he moves to Bulgaria where he becomes a speaker for an Iranian radio channel. He returns to Kurdistan in 1970 and starts working again as an active member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Iran until he reaches the position of deputy secretary of the party. In 1984, while in Europe to visit his children, he receives an unexpected letter from his party informing him that he is no longer a member.
In 1986, he moves from Bulgaria to Sweden, where lives the remainder of life.
