Idris was the son of Maulana Sheikh Hussam elddin Ali Badlisi. He was born in a noble family and his father was a disciple of Sheikh Ammar, who belonged to the Sufism group of Soorawardi.
He wrote a major Ottoman literary work in Persian, named Hasht Bihisht, which began in 1502 and covered the reign of the first eight Ottoman rulers.
Badlisi was instrumental in the incorporation of the territories of #Urfa# and #Mosul# into the Ottoman Empire without a war, and of Mardin after a long siege. He played a key role in driving the Alevi Turkomans from the whole region and the assimilation and Ottomanization of the remaining Sunni Kurds.
Hussam elddin Ali's family moved to the new capital with Ak Koyunlu. Idris Badlisi was a scholar and an intelligent personality. He graduated very successfully in his studies he finished Persian, Arabic and religious sciences successfully. During the reign of Ak Koyunlu he was busy with the principality works.
After the Safavids ended the state of Ak Koyunlu, Idris Badlisi was forced to leave #Tabriz# and head toward #Istanbul#. After a while due to his intelligence and capability he became the advisor of Sultan Salim.
Sources show that Idris Badlisi was a high-minded and eloquent person that people loved talking with, who was always involved in science, books and writing. There are many different opinions about his death, the most popular being that he passed away in 1520.
He has published several works and books in the fields of medicine, zoology, astronomy, philosophy and many other scientific fields.[1]
