Falakeddin Sabir Kakeyi, also known as Falakeddin Kakeyi is a writer and journalist who was born in 1943.
In early 1957-1959, he began his student-life and youth activities. In 1965, he joined the Kurdish and Arab democracy movements. In addition to writing literary articles, he also translated many articles from Kurdish into Arabic and vice versa.
In 1962 Wrote and published his first Kurdish story.
In 1964, he began working as a journalist working in the Arabic language.
In 1967, he published the novel Bitaqay Yansib (Lottery Ticket) in Baghdad.
In April 1967, he changed his writing career and joined the ranks of reporters and writers for the daily newspaper Ta'akhi, published in Arabic in Baghdad, which continues to this day.
He worked as a reporter and writer in Ta'akhi, then became a permanent writer, page writer and writing director.
He became editor in 2003 and is still a franchisee.
He was also the editor-in-chief of several other newspapers and magazines in Kurdish and Arabic, whether in the cities or in the mountains during the Kurdish revolution.
In 1974, he became the director of media during the revolution and became the editor-in-chief of Voice of Kurdistan.
He supervised it continuously from 1974 to 1994, that is, for twenty years without interruption except for politically caused stoppages in the station. He wrote daily articles in both Kurdish and Arabic.
From 1980-1991, he was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Khabat, which was secretly published in the mountains.
From 1993-2001, he was the editor-in-chief of Khabat, which was established and published a weekly issue.
Throughout 1960-1974 he played a role in trade union, mass, and labor activities.
In 1979, he was elected as a member of the central committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
In 1992, he was elected to the Kurdistan National Assembly in the first session of the Kurdistan Parliament.
In 1996, he became the Minister of Culture of the Kurdistan Regional Government until he resigned in 2000, when he became the Minister of the Kurdistan Region.
In 2006, he was re-elected Minister of Culture.
From 1992 to 2005 he was a member of parliament.
He has been a member of several unions and cultural organizations of writers and journalists.
He is currently a member of the Kurdistan Parliamentarians Union and president of the Kurdish-Turkish Brotherhood Association.
He has participated in a large number of domestic and international conferences, especially related to the Iraqi opposition since 1985 until the change of the situation in Iraq.
