Fototermin vor dem Billboard in Köln
Ein neues Werk des #Köln#er Künstlers Ali Zülfikar zeigt die inhaftierten HDP-Politiker:innen #Selahattin Demirtaş# und Figen Yüksekdağ und den zu lebenslanger Haft verurteilten Kulturmäzen Osman Kavala.
Die Werke des kurdischen Künstlers Ali Zülfikar aus Köln sind ein Dorn im Auge des türkischen Staats. In der Galerie Am Brüsseler Platz in Köln wird heute eine Benefiz-Ausstellung eröffnet, am Mittwoch fand zum Auftakt ein Presse- und Fototermin vor einem Billboard in Luxemburger Straße statt. Einen Teil des Verkaufserlöses der Ausstellung „Bravehearts – Freiheit für politische Gefangene in der Türkei“ erhält die Cultopia Stiftung, um Menschenrechtsaktivist:innen in der Türkei mit Spenden zu unterstützen.

An dem Pressegespräch am Mittwoch nahmen neben dem Künstler unter anderem der Kölner Bürgermeister Andreas Wolter, die Bundestagsabgeordnete Serap Güler, Dirk Kästel als Vorstandsvorsitzender der Cultopia Stiftung, die ehemaligen NRW-Landtagsabgeordneten Hamide Akbayir und Bärbel Bauermann, der Kölner Stadtrat Jörg Detjen, der HDP-Europavertreter Derviş Çimen und der Schriftsteller Memo Şahin teil.
Das Kunstwerk von Ali Zülfikar zeigt die ehemaligen Ko-Vorsitzenden der Demokratischen Partei der Völker (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş und Figen Yüksekdağ, sowie den Kulturmäzen Osman Kavala, die seit langem von der türkischen Regierung als politische Geiseln inhaftiert sind. Bei dem Pressegespräch wurde die Freilassung aller politischen Gefangenen in der Türkei gefordert. Bürgermeister Andreas Wolter (Grüne) erklärte, dass niemand aufgrund seiner Gedanken inhaftiert werden dürfe. Ali Zülfikar rief dazu auf, die politischen Gefangenen in der Türkei nicht allein zu lassen und noch viel mehr zu unterstützen.
Das Kölner Stadtratsmitglied Jörg Detjen (Die Linke) sagte, Kunst könne ein Mittel sein, um Veränderungen herbeizuführen. Der Linkspolitiker bezeichnete den türkischen Präsidenten Erdoğan als Despot und wies darauf hin, dass das türkische Konsulat die Ausstellung des Kunstprojekts verhindern wollte.
Bereits 2018 hat das türkische Generalkonsulat gegen die Ausstellung eines Bildes von Ali Zülfikar in Linz interveniert. Das Bild zeigt Erdoğan mit einer Brille, in der sich ein weinendes Kind als Symbol für den Krieg und der seit 2016 inhaftierte HDP-Politiker Selahattin Demirtaş spiegeln. In der Hand hält Erdoğan ein heiliges Buch mit seinem Fingerabdruck. Unten rechts befindet sich ein Stempelabdruck mit der Inschrift „Erdo-Bananen Republik“. Die Ausstellung in Linz am Rhein wollte das Bild wegen Bedenken des dortigen Bürgermeisters nicht zeigen. Das änderte sich, nachdem Zülfikar das Bild umgedreht an der Wand anbrachte und „Zensiert von der Stadt Linz“ auf die Rückseite schrieb. Nachdem der Bürgermeister eine Einschätzung des Auswärtigen Amts und der Polizei eingeholt hatte, konnte das Bild wieder gezeigt werden.[1]
