Erzuru m Kongresi açıldı. Vilayat-ı Şarkiye Müdafaa-i Hukuk Cemiyeti Başkanı Hoca Raif Efendi, Kongre'yi açarken Derneğin niçin ve nasıl kurulduğunu anlattı. Erzurum'dan 24, Trabzon'dan 1 7, Sivas'tan ı o, Bitlis'ten 3, Van'dan 2 olmak üzere 56 delegenin katıldığı Kongre, İkinci Meşrutiyet'in eski takvime göre ilanının ı ı. yıldönümü olan ıo Temmuz' da açılacaktı, ancak bazı delegelerin gelmesinin gecikmesi üzerine bugün, Meşrutiyet'in yeni takvime göre ilanı yıldönümünde açılabildi. Doğu Anadolu'nun Ermenilere verilme tehlikesini önlemek üzere toplanan Kongre, bütün Türkiye ile ilgili kararlar da alarak 7 Ağustos'ta kapanacak. Kongre'ye katılanların meslek yüzdeleri: 19 toprak sahibi, 15 idareci, 13 din adamı, ı ı asker, g tüccar, 7 hukukçu, 7 eğitimci, 7 gazeteci, 2 sağlıkçı ve teknik eleman. (Söylev 1: 46; Karabekir 1: 81, Dursunoğlu: 107 ; Kansu 1: 75; Aşkun: 66; Goloğlu 1: 77, 172; Aydemir 1, il: ı 16; Tansel il: 53; BTTD 35: 11; Selek 2, 1: 231) [1]
